Grooveprints July 2010 - March 2011 | Adobe Illustrator

My undergrad thesis project: Grooveprints is a visual-based approach to teaching Filipino folk dance. Because the structure of Filipino folk dance follows the structure of the music it's set to, the idea was to break down a dance the way you break down a folk song. I first subdivided the dance to its primary segments (think verse, chorus, verse), then subdivided each segment to its component dance patterns (waltz left, waltz right, clockwise turn). You learn a dance by first understanding the basic dance steps, then build up to sections. The product is a dance kit that contains a set of dance and practice mats.
